three out of four ain't bad - 2000-07-20

I don't know if I feel like doing the happy dance right now, or feel like breaking down in sobs... Seems like a theme lately, I'm so confused...

So tonight Dustin, Jen and I went out to the local bar for a couple of drinks and it wa lovely, lovely... A lot of reminiscing about the better parts of high school (whatever few there are...), and just a lot of good, fun conversation. Dustin is a genius for good and fun, he is remarkable. Jen, too, also adds a quieter, more subdued presence, which is also very fun and pleasing to be around. I like hanging out with her... And I'm not sure what I add, but I suppose it is something, and something positive, or else these people would have none of me.

But, of course, something was terribly missing. I think you can see where this is going....

Kim, where are you?

Yes, indeed, the four of us were the ones who always went to the bar on weekday nights, and we always had a great time. But tonight Kim did not join us, and something was desperately, deasperately lacking. Maybe it was the presence of the person I undyingly love. Maybe I am biased.

But I'm sure Dustin and Jen would agree: Kim is missed.

Sad.

But still a great night. One that I needed. I kind of needed some mature carousing, some slight slurring of the speech. I'm starting to become very partial to that roadhouse and this little weekly ritual the four of us have begun. I will miss it come September when Dustin becomes Jennifer Love Hewitt again. Remind me to make sure we do this at Christmas.

So, in the lame Leonardo vehicle "The Beach", there is a rather remarkable discussion on a Survivor-esque island-

For the record, I am unbelievalby thrilled that jack-ass Greg was voted off tonight. He deserved it, the psycho freak. I heard he was crying... Maybe he should call somebody who cares on his insipid "nature phone". Moron.

There is a discussion on this island between Leo and the sultry french heroine about "taking a picture of yourself". Something about departing from your physical form, and capturing yourself in an awkward position on film, so it is remembered forever. It was kind of poetic what they talked about, and it reminded me of the 'stargazer rant' I had in the background of my old stargazing graphic, where I wondered about stargazing, and who may be stargazing back at me...

Well, this week I had pictures of me taken in very comprising positions, pictures, that if they turn out, may be featured in a newspaper near you. Stay tuned... Y2K may have taken 'stargazing' to provincial levels... My words may soon appear in print. Exciting!

I'll keep you posted.

Random thoughts for tonight:

Hi Jen, thanks for reading... Creed is my new favourite band, it is official... I feel so blessed to have the friends that I do, I don't even care if I'm a loner at Laurier... My one ear is bigger than the other, from me sleeping on my right side for twenty years... I'm tired...

'night.
